It was just the fog lights, I guess I didn't turn the switch far enough when I got out.

That's even more weird. They wont go on unless the key is on.

You know what. I think you're right. I'll have to check that.

But I do clearly remember opening the car door and only seeing the switch at the parking/fog position.

Didn't the beeper thing go off that tells you your lights are on when you open the door?

Sounds like the dreaded underdash water dispensor option none
of us ordered but go anyway. The SJB probably has been getting
wet everytime it rains and the water has started the corrosion
process and the system is goind haywire....

My 07 will turn the headlights on whenever it want to independent
of the ignition key position. They automatically shut off 15 minutes
after the last door is closed and the key is off.

Yes it does and if the fogs were on, you can bet the running lights
were on as well as there is a mechanical interlock in the headlight
switch that prevents you from turning off the clearance lights
without the fog switch in.

You are correct sir, but I was referring to the fog/driving lamps

don't forget that some states/ countries have daytime running lights. Just to complicate things even more.
I wonder if the battery maker's lobby got Ford to not put in a device to automatically turn off our headlights after a few minutes!

Would a new battery help the OP?

So it was a loose connector somewhere. Mechanic found it while poking around, said they reseated it and it's fine now. I'll get the details when I pick up the car in the morning.

They're keeping it overnight to wait for and replace the ebrake assembly that broke a few weeks back.

So I went to pick up the car today, as soon as I jumped in and started the car it did the SAME thing.

Jackasses. They plugged the loose connector back in but didn't bother to make sure everything was working on both ends. Guy made up a bunch of excuses and then ordered a whole new junction box. That's the box on the lower right passenger side foot panel.

I'm pissed, no Stang in 2 days makes me grumpy.
