my ten cents... I've been building engines for over ten years now, and like you guys said, its a combination of several factors... hands down, 450~480whp its a good safe bet. However, hooking it up with slicks adds up, a lot of torque down low at the rev range (turbo & pos dis blowers) adds up, a poor tune, bad gas, high rpm (over 7K) adds up, and garanteed, you will blow it up. There is a time and a place for everything...

Personally, I am currently running a Procharger, its got good whp but relatively low torque (515whp/436tq). I smoked the clutch a while ago, currently using a Spec stage 3+.

My recommendations if venturing beyong...:

use good gas or additive (Lucas) when going racing
don't rev beyond 6500 rpm with stock long block
make sure you have a good tune
be on the rich side always
use a wideband
don't get happy with the timming

...did I mention having a good tune????

I you can't comply, don't do it or start building the piggy bank.

So far, [email protected], 1.6-60' on ET Streets, it's up to you!

If you use all the power available on a frequent basis, especially if you run slicks, you'll eventually break either the clutch, tranny, or both. The TR3650 is rated to 390lbft and a supercharged 5.4 will make way more than that.
You could consider doing a TR6060 swap from a GT500 in addition to the engine. That tranny is rated to 600lbft.

your realize you'll need a new clutch set up as well.

As Dino suggested a TR6060 swap is a good idea
