Anyone have any first hand knowledge on this? I really like the black chrome look of the 2010 optional pony and would like to get mine to look that way but I know it will come out like crap if I try to rattle can it. I was thinking I might be able to just replace it w/ a 2010 pony since they look about them same shape and size.

The grille may not fit but the pony's should interchange?

from what i understand the 2010 pony is different from the 05-09. i don't think the 10 will fit in the 05-09 grille.

+1 the '10 pony is completely redesigned from the previous versions, so the best way to get the new 'black chrome' look, would be to paint... or buy a '10 mustang

Well looking at the two, Ford really didn't change the stance of the pony at all out maybe the back of the neck a bit. If that 2010 is the same general size it might just work.
If it doesn't, anyone know where you can buy translucent black paint? I could just skim coat the pony in regular black but I doubt I'll get the results I want.

i'd try some place like home depot or lowes for paint; they have a bunch of metallic paints that might give you the result you are looking for. i've actually been considering doing this too

oh, and about the emblem itself, even though the ponies are in the same 'position', i believe the proportions are different (i.e. the '10 is larger)
