Does this wheel and tire combo make sense?

Discount Tire has a good before and after calculator.

Problem is that if you're set on HTR Z II's, 285/40-18 is not an available size. Neither is 245/45 if you wanted to match the front to the 275/40 rear (and avoid up to a half inch of overall diameter mismatch front to rear that way).
The 275/40 with 245/45 combination is, however, available in the HTR Z III line.

Well, thanks everyone for the help. After much research (and finding out just this morning that I'd be driving alot more), I decided to go with 18x9s all around running on 275/18/40 Nittos. Mike at Cruizin Concepts hooked me up with his usual excellent customer service. Thanks again.

When I got my wheels from American Muscle (Mustang Tuning at the time), they came with the Sumitomos...
I didn't like those tires, they didn't last and they don't grab.
They just didn't work for me.
They might be more efficient in 18 or 17 size, who knows...

I'm running 275/40 sumitomo's up front because american muscle offers them really cheap. I can swap my rims/tires out quickly for 300/ea (Sumitomos and Steeda ultralites).. I have curb issues and you can't beat that. Rears are 500/ea with the Nitto DR's..
I see nothing wrong with going 275/40-18 all-round and you can rotate your tires if required. I would love to rotate mine now but it's not possible with DR's.
