Default question I hadnt thought of

I recently had a CAI/tune put in my mustang GT. Its been great, no complaints. I usually wash the car at the house but am taking a weekend trip with the wife soon. My wife asked me today,....

"Can you put your car through a touchless carwash when we're away now that you have the CAI?"

I hadnt really thought of it till she said that especially since I usually wash it myself. But I do use the touchless once and while. Is there any issue with CAI and carwashes? Probably a dumb question but I had no idea.

Why would that be any worse than driving at 70 MPH in a driving rainstorm (which I've done often enough)? Unless you're really pouring water into the engine compartment it's not an issue.

I've never taken my Stang thru ANY carwash, even a touchless (since most still tend to hand scrub parts of your car before it goes thru) so I suppose I'm just assuming...

Thanks, ya I hand wash the car most the time as well. but there have been times when I've been away or just ran through quick to save time (not often). When I have I use only the touchfree high pressure was with no brushes.figured better to ask people who know than run through and drown the car then come on here and post that story.

If you take the S197 stang thru automatic washes,
you get what you deserve IMHO.

I know a guy who owns one and it damages
(goes haywire) about a vehicle a month.
It got a $60K Mercedes last time. It was not pretty.
The owner just had to sit in the vehicle while
the 'touchless' wash proceded to damage the
front and rear of the vehicle.
The "owner is responsable for any and all damages"
signs removed him of any responsability.
Thats one in 1000. Not good enough odds for
me to take.
