Those cars in second with failing pins/hood are usually under constant highspeed and it looked as if he had hit his corner already which would cause something like that to happen.

And 1st video of mustang, I think you can connect hood flying off to aerodynamics of older models, our cars look like bricks but our drag coefficent is pretty good. But again you won't have to worry unless you put your car through constant high speed runs.

It's wierd gone for a few mins at 140+ a few times never had any hood shake on my stock hood.

lol 140 for a few minutes, where the hell do you drive with roads that long and smooth?

1 minute @ 140 mph is a loooooong time, when I said I burried my needle it burried it and then that was it slowed right back down, I cant imagine trying to go 140 plus for a few minutes

Depends in which State though...
I bet you I can do it in Montana, or in the Arizona desert.

And 157db is right... it is a hood failure, the pins did the job.
Some light "racing" oriented fiberglass hoods (no inside brace, top skin only) are just not doing the job...

I've had my stock hood pop up while doing around 100mph on a slight left turn on the highway. The hand latch caught it but it still scared the **** out of me.

When OEM hoods pop out, it's because it wasn't closed all the way...
It may appear that way but the vibration will trigger the failure.
If the hood striker isn't aligned right in the middle of the latch, it will drag and therefore not latching in that extra 16" of an inch that is needed to complete the loop around the striker.

It's always a good idea to try to lift the hood back up after you just closed it, so you can prevent that latch from being fickle...
