Default Ideas for Suspension

What's up fellas,

I knew that when I got my car it was not much for cornering. Now that I am up for taking care of this issue, I would welcome any ideas from those that have made their own Mustang more agile.

Bottom line, I want my ride to hang with a Z06.

Hang with a Z06? That seems like a pretty big thing to accomplish. I would say new springs, shocks, panhard bar, panhard bar brace, lower control arms, adjustable upper control arm, front and rear sway bars with heavy duty sway bar mounts. You could always go with the roush handling pack. I think they said it gives you like 1g on the skidpad or something like that.

Whooooooooa, tall order here Former, but Avengence pretty much hit it on the head. Unfortunately, it's going to cost ya....!!! Probably around $2,000-$2,500 just for parts mentioned, then labor on top
PS. May not add much, but you might as well just throw in a good Strut Tower Brace for Good luck. Personally, I went with all Steeda and no issues.....

Yes, I think its a good idea to get a complete kit that has all the parts designed to work together.

Yep. I'd go with the Roush complete kit.

If i were to start upgrading my suspension a few hundred bucks at a time what order should i go in and where should i start? My parents dont want me to spend tons of money on my car, but im sure i could spend some every few months till its done.

Don't forget the fuzzy dice and the throttle body spacer, then you'll sound really technical!

Actually you have no idea what you're talking about. You're just naming off random parts in a car, fender liner, i'm not sure why you would post this, klaxon solenoid.

First off the stock mustang goes around a corner faster or at least not slower than an S2000 and most BMW's to begin with. It's not a bad car in any way. Unfortunately the cheapest way to upgrade the handling to any reasonable level that's worth your money would cost about $1100 I'd say, and there would be no point in spending money on one part at a time because the inexpensive good suspension setups are kits and they offer significant discounts and anything less than that a full kit would probably only change the handling to to such a small amount that it wouldn't be worth it in comparison. Buying certain kits, is the least you can do for the most gain in many cases.

Some people are going to say to upgrade your springs to Eibach or whatever, but with that you're spending $650 to install them and end up with an improvement of MAYBE 2%. Those are considered the best handling springs by many aswell.

So wait until you have at least $1000 saved up or you may be throwing your hard to come by cash away.

FormerNYer, if you want I can completely set your car up to beat a ZO6 and keep the price under $3000 with local installation including new tires if you have 18" wheels. Just send me a message and do your setup for you because you're a forum member.

You can see what I can do right in my signature and in addition I have dozens of faster lap times and cornering speeds against talented drivers using supercars like Ferrari 612s, Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradales , Lamborghini Galardos and Lotus Exiges on the track.
