Default Self - installing a mail-order exhaust.

Ok guys,

I've received my exhaust kit. I'm trying to decide between bolting it up myself or having an exhaust shop put it together.

Anyone here install up their own? Any issues with bolting it together? If I do it myself it won't be welded obviously.

Thanks,

J.

I installed my axelback corsa exhaust myself with no problems. Make sure you have a good socket set, a torque wrench, ramps or jack stands and patience lining up the tips. Oh, having a buddy to help with the lifting/alignment helps as well.

Call me husky, but I couldn't get far enough under the car using ramps. However jack stands worked fine. Actually for the axel back part of the exhaust I didn't even have to jack it up I just slid right under. Mine is not lowered or anything though, nothing special needed but hand tools and a torque wrench.

If it's a full dual conversion, you can do it; just need a zaw-saw or (the hard way: hacksaw) for cutting the stock pipes ahead of the Y. But the rest can be bolted on. My first dual setup was done that way, clamped on and all.

If you are just doing muffler(s) past the Y, it's even easier.

I had a really hard time doing it in my garage with the Ford racing dual exhaust. Couldn't get the back end high enough to snake the intermediate pipes over the axle.
