Default 3:73 on the interstate

anybody out there know how the 3:73 gear performs on the open road , cruising along around 70 mph... does it whine like it needs another gear ????

When I testdrove I had 3.73. I only got it to 65 cause of traffic. But in 5th gear it was just a hair below 2000 RPM. I will most likely get the 3.55 on the one I buy.

considering this poster didn't mention anything about the 10', this is a general question about 373 gearing.

its in the 2010 specific discussion though. I just presumed he wanted to know what people who got the 3.73 option on their 2010 mustang gt, what RPM they turned at highway speed.

3.73s are very nice in the '10s! Beautiful with the new intake tube as well!

The tr3650 in the 2010 has the same 5th gear ratio as any other tr3650 so it will be at the same rpm at 70mph as it would in any 5spd manual mustang from mid-02 to 2010.
5th gear is a 0.68:1 and the overall with 3.73 is a 1.80:1 so at 60mph it is at 1900rpm. You can do the math for at 70mph but it will be in the low 2000's.
I would highly recommend the 3.73's, they are the best all around gears you can get, Autocross/roadcoarse/drag---> 3.73=perfect
