Default I guess I am a Mac axle back lifer!

Well I finally sold the stingers and bought another set of Macs for my car. Man why did I ever get rid of them in the first place. I am much happier now with them again and plan on staying with them for life. They are just so deep and mean sounding with my cams and sound like a beast up high. It was a costly lesson but I am glad I am back to the Mac axle back crew. I will get up some videos this weekend (even though I have a bunch on youtube already). The only downside is that they are louder than the stingers so now I can't hear my whipple as good, OH WELL LOL! Just thought I would share.

Good to hear your back to the MAC crew! lol

I'm happy with mine now that I put some miles on my LT's, once warmed up the rasp goes away.

you might want to look into a set of resonators. I put them on and it helped make the tone alittle deeper with less drone and trumpeting.

Did the resonators make a huge difference? I have MACs on my car right now, and IMHO, the stingers blow them away. The MACs sound really shrill, and have a lot more rasp to them. Its ALL about preference i suppose.

Mufflers ive tried (W/ MY SET-UP) in the order i liked best:
Stingers
MACs
Flows
Magnaflows

yeah they did. At first I was alittle disappointed because it did make the exhaust note alittle quieter. After driving for a few miles it did sound deeper and had alittle less rasp to it. My main thing was getting rid of the trumpeting when you get on it. I am glad I did it. You are right though what sounds good to me may not sound good to you. The stingers I had did sound good but they were just to quiet and had alot of trumpeting up high even with the resonators. I have had a few different exhaust combos (lol).
Starting with...
flowmasters
flowmasters and bassani o/r x
Frpp stingers and bassani o/r x
Frpp stingers and stock gutted H
Frpp stingers and pypes o/r H

I had MAC's and LOVED those mufflers. The trumpeting I couldn't take. Now that I run hi-flow cats (and always will) I would probably love my MAC's once again. And those beautiful polished 304 SS cases looked great from the rear. If I ever went back to a chambered muffler it would be MAC.

However I would NEVER again run a chambered muffler and off-road pipe... just doesn't sound good. Shrill, trumpeting, only sounds good at idle IMO.

Then again, louie has resonators which make a big difference. Exhaust sound is a science on these cars.
