The kits that come from BSM will only have a 2" gap in the center because of the way the kit is designed around the faux gas cap. I ran 12" stripes with 1/2" pinstripes on my V6 and it looked great to me. Now with my GT I went with a local shop and the width of the stripes is more around that of the 10" kit from BSM and I have about a 1/4" pinstripe. IMO 1" pinstripes would be a bit much unless you were running a Superstripe down the center of the car. In which case I would say go with the 1" stripes on either side.
