I would go with a regular Mustang GT and install the Griggs GR40 suspension for 13 grand. Be the best handling car on the road. 1.22 g's in the skid pad, fast in the straight line, and still comfortable ride and drive.
lol wow 13 grand for susupension on your daily driver and im sure its so stiff your *** will be sore after a day of driving dont see how it can be a comfortable ride?

seems you want the gt500 so gofor it.

NA saleens are going for well less than $30k. Ive seen some for around $26 and some even lower. SC saleens are going for around $30. I bought mine for $33k almost a year ago. Extremes are going for around $36k. There are some damn good deals out there if you look around. People are desperate. I saw an 07 GT500 for sale for $29k. A big positive about the saleens is that their insurance is the same as a mustang GT. Their title says Mustang GT unlike a shelby which says GT500.

I know alot of you will side with the GT500 BUT if you guys were to defend the vette against the GT500 what reasons could you see why someone would choose a 07 C6 over a 07 GT500
In the Vette's defense it has far superior handling. I have found them to be very comfortable too regardless of what others say...especially for the level of performance they provide.

The big difference is: A Mustang has character. It's not the most hi-tech super advanced car on the planet by any means whatsoever. Whomever buys a GT500 buys it for what it is...a Muscle car and a damn sexy one at that. If the average Joe Schmo comes across a lot of money he is going to buy a vette.....just because...well its a vette. The GT500 appeals to a certain type of person and for that reason I believe it is somewhat of an exclusive vehicle.

The Vette is a good car but many (NOT ALL) buy them just because they can or for a status regardless if they give a hoot about what it can do.

When I see a GT500 (yes I am biased) I say "there's a guy with taste" when I see a Vette I go "theres another yuppie, confused retiree or showoff who didn't know what to buy." Again this doesn't apply to all Vette owners...

That being said...my brother in law has a C6 and I love driving it....but I feel cooler...and at home, in my slower, worse handling Mustang.

NO WAY!! I have had both and my C6 is way more comfortable, ergonomic, and the interior is better. It's also alot more high tech.

Yes this being a mustang forum you will see a big bias toward the slower GT500. But I have owned both, a S197 and now a C6 and they can't even be compared. But hey what do I know, I'm just a "yuppie" right?

Insurance is cheaper for a vette, hell for me the vette insurance was cheaper than a V6 stang.

black mamba notice thedrod said not all corvette owners buy their corvettes for a status symbol but MOST corvettes i see are bone stock which imo shows they just bout the car for the hell of it. dont get my wrong corvettes are great cars. But did you own a GT500? or just GT? if you just had the GT thats basically comparing the GT500 to a camaro imo. great looking vette btw.

I agree, when that guy says he's owned both. I think he meant a GT and a C6
Of course the C6 is going to blow away the GT in comparison

Kinda like the Red Baron dog-fighting Chuck Yeager.

I have considered going for the GT500 myself lately because it already has all the mods I want to do....brakes, boost, 6 speed, etc!

Someone on this forum or another actually has a C6 z06 and I think a saleen extreme and loves driving the saleen more because its more comfortable. just some ideas
I would either go with a C6 or a Saleen Extreme for 40k. The Saleen extreme was designed to equal a Z06 corvette though so it will be better than a c6 in every measurable and conceivable way.

The extreme is a pretty awesome car, it handles in the same range as a Z06 but it's much easier to control. Considering I know at least 4 victims of crashes resulting from the common and proven difficulty in controlling Corvettes that would be something to consider favorably.

The 05-07 extreme failed in execution in exactly matching the Corvette z06 due to poor acceleration and the suspension until the 302 with the rear sway bar and watts link came out which also mostly mitigated the initial lack of bite off the line with a boat load of more horsepower too.

Anyways:
