Just to add to the confusion. There is an available update to the SYNC that provides navigation to the standard non-NAV system on the Mustang. It's provides turn by turn directions and traffic updates. It' a download from the SYNC website and gives you free NAV for 3 years...... I may not wait for my factory NAV and go get my car this month and just have this newly available option this month....

Oh diggidy dam ... wow ... awsomeness. Thx Wilkinda, good catch.
When u use the SYNC "Nav", does ur cellphone has to remain connected for the whole trip, or just used to download the directions? Does that means that non-nav MUstangs have some kind of GPS onboard?

i would assume it could be if you have the Shaker 1000. My understanding is the NAV system and Shaker 1000 was not compatiblke due to power consumption constraints that to remedy on Ford's part would have significantly increased the cost of the NAV / Shaker 1000 package

In typical Sync fashion, the features can be activated with voice commands. Directions, traffic or news can be piped through the stereo’s speakers or sent to a phone via text message. Your phone doesn’t need to be equipped with GPS to make use of navigation, as a GPS receiver was included in all 2010 Ford models with Sync in anticipation of this update.
AWESOME!!
