Default Sub box in spare tire compartment..

So, I'm thinking of doing some custom fiberglass fabrication, and taking my 2 12" out, and switching to a single 15" ..

I'm kind of sick of not being able to fold down my rear seats when I need to fit something bigger in.. So I'm going to take out the spare since I don't need it in there, and lay some fiber down..

Question is.. anyone know a good place to buy fiberglass sheets and resin from ?

Has anyone ever done this, and if so, are there any issues ? is the sound good ? does it make your trunk rattle even more ?

Hope to get some input on this before I spend money on it and find out it sounds like crap lol

oh btw, post pics of any custom stuff done on the spare compartment.. I'll take ideas too. Thx

I have done lot of glass work. You can get fiber sheets and resin at any auto store, you can even get at auoto zone. If you dare to shop at a crap store, my pov. Here is my thoghts, don't!!! One 10" will pound sooooo hard your pasengers will jump out!!! What do you need your trunk for?? Leave your life line (spare) and you will make it home! Bass will not

sweet looking ride.

(-:

OP:

Have you thought about replacing the shaker 1000 subs with aftermarket ones + an amp?

I plan on doing the same, should sound great though I am not sure if the shaker 1k sub enclosure is ideal for two high powered subs...

you need to raise the trunk floor about 3 inches to accommodate the space and then it will look abysmally horrible when you're done. I've been asked to do installs with subs firing out of the spare tire well and they turned out pretty ugly.

StealthGT, I have aftermarket stuff in there.. 2 xplode 12" with a in dash dvd.
2007GrabberGT 10" don't really do it for me. my 2 12" are fine, I'm not looking for trunk rattling, neighbors windows shaking type of bass anyways.. I just wanted to get rid of the box I have in there now. It's a custom box I made, but I've had plenty of times to go shopping and just had to buy something that couldn't fit lol.. plus I get free roadside assistance from my insurance company.. so I can allways call for some air lol.. I really apreciate the input though, I will take it all in and make my decission if I will or not. right now I'm aiming for it, but if plenty of people give me reasons not to, I'll just keep what I have in now.
