stickers on rear end

the stickers with the barcodes and stuff that are on the rear end girdle and the rear end axle tubing.... do those need to be left on the car for any sort of reason?
i currently have the car up on jack stands and am taking off the rust with a wire brush prepping to coat it with some VHT or por15 or something.

also, how much of all of the rust spots do i need to get rid of before i coat it? ive gotten rid of most of it, but there are the few spots that just cant be cleaned without dissasembling. should i just coat it anyways or what...? thanks

You can remove the tags/stickers. Just go ahead a paint over the rusted areas.

Take em off. Youll be fine. And as far as th rust, the more you get off and the cleaner the surface, the better you result will be.

YES, thanks for the responses guys!
ive got a lot on my plate... coating the rear end, gotta get the pullies installed, hopefully gonna pull the trigger on the TCI shifter tomorrow, and im somewhat in the market for a one piece driveshaft (someone has a spydershaft for sale in the classifides section). (figured if im gonna get rid of some parasitic loss with the pullies, why not do the ds as well)
AND im buying a harley this week. june is going to be a good month :-D

Sounds like a busy month; I removed all of the stickers from mine and the sticker police have not been looking for me.
