Winter Weather and the Short Drop Glass feature

So...what do you do when your windshield ices up? Don't tell me you just let the car idle until it melts away on it's own...? Or maybe you don't get the kind of ice we get out here :-)

Don't know where you're at, so maybe not. But yes, I do just that. Here's my 6:15 AM workday drill in S. Jersey when there's heavy frost or (so far) light ice.
Start car, defrost, fan on high, temp all the way up. Put driver seat heater on. Turn off traction control. Lock car with the fob, go back in the house, brush teeth, grab coat, hat, and everything else I'm bringing with me that day, and by the time I get settled back in to the car with my seatbelt on, it's mostly melted. Hit the wipers a couple of manual pulses and it's usually ready to go.
Side benefit - the car actually gets fully warmed up, so there's a much better chance that the moisture gets boiled out of the oil. My commute is less than 4 miles in light traffic, and on a cold day this cold-blooded aluminum 4.6 would need all of that and then some if I just hopped in and drove off.

Not an expert in the freezing thing as it was in the mid-80's out here when the rest of the country is really struggling with the cold. But I think lightly tapping the glass to break any seal the window might have made with the rubber seal wouldnt hurt and as you pull the handle, see if the window goes down a bit. even if it doesnt go down it really wont hurt things much but there is really one way to find out. One thing I am sure of that car manufacturers test their cars in extreme cold and heat before they are put out there so Im sure this has been addressed by the factory and warranty should cover any problems.
