Eibach Sport Springs + 20 inch wheels with low pro tires = HARD RIDE, need help
Hey guys,
I changed my springs from stock to Eibach sport springs and I couldnt be happier with the appearance of the drop, it looks great. I am running 20 inch wheels with NItto 555 tires and I am happy with the grip. BUT she is my dailly driver and putting up with the garbage city road bumps gets really rough some days. The springs seem to bottom out really bad at times and though the ride is smooth on good road, on bumps it is terrible. What can I do? I am running stock shocks and struts, will replacing them help the ride and if so what should I buy to go with my Eibach sport springs...?

everyone is so quick to ditch the 20's around here...depends on what size rubber you're running. You can go with a larger series sidewall like I did and the ride is the same, maybe better than the oem 18's with the springs. I have the stock struts/shocks too with the pro kit, and most guys say that changing them out with an adjustable strut makes a huge ride difference. There's some decent buys on ebay for the adj Tokicos. I'd start there.

of course I knew I would be sacrificing ride quality and even some performance when I made my wheel set up choice. But I love the wheels and I am not changing them, so I am asking what I can do now to save the most ride haha and yes I imagine shocks and struts would make a big difference? What to get with my springs is now the question....?

... this is largely your issue. the ride will always be a little harsher but the stock shocks are designed to work in a certain stroke cycle, not with lowering springs. i made this same mistake initially and was bottoming out my shocks over big bumps. when i put the new dampers on the car it largely fixed the issue... but dont expect it to be perfect.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will def. buy some aftermarket shocks and struts. Does anyone have a recomendation for shocks n struts that are particularly soft but will not kill me in the turns? I know it is all compromise, unless I go with adjustables such as Dspecs, but is there soft setting soft enough? And I am running 35 sidewalls and with my sportlines you are right I dont think I could even fit 40's.

um correct me if I'm wrong but a 5% taller sidewall on a 20" rim will equate to only a inch overall taller tire right? Your saying with your sportlines you don't have an inch clearance? I only ask because I have my coilovers set at 1.75" lower in back with a 20X8.5 rim using a 245/35/20 toyo Z4 tire and I have like an inch of clearance. I to plan on going with a 40 series tire or a 255/35/20 when these wear out as the 35 is pretty harsh not to mention a little more sidewall on a stang looks great imo
