Default CJ Pony Parts Tune??????

I have maybe a simple question about custom tunes. I purchased a JLT intake and and SCT 3 from CJ Pony Parts. They installed two tunes for me, an 87 octane and a 93 octane. After I installed the CAI and the tune, I noticed an immediate change. Now here's my question. What is the difference between a tune from Brenspeed, Bamachips and CJ Pony Parts? I'm not sure I would gain anything by getting a tune from Breenspeed, my cars Manual GT, or simply staying with the tune that I have. I want to believe that the tune depends on the person who creates the tune, so I might improve or might not right? Or I might not notice anything different? Any thoughts?

I don't know anything about CJ Pony Parts and have never heard of anyone getting a tune from them, you might have to be the guinea pig on this one...

When I bought my C&L and diablo, it came with 3 tunes. I used them for years and they worked well. Never had any probelms with inspection or anything. Then, I bought a race tune from Bama chips. At first it seemed to be slightly more responsive. When I went for inspection, it turns out I failed. Between multiple inpections and tickets for not passing inspection I wound up spending over $300. It turned out that the bama chip tunes shut off the sensors and there is no way to pass inspection with one of these tunes. I called up Doug and he told me to return my car to stock; so if you're happy with your CJ tune, getting a tune from Doug is not worth it unless you plan on changing back to stock once a year to pass inspection.

If you race your car it might be a different story but for normal street driving I did not see enough of a difference to justify the expense and the hassles.

CJ Pony Parts is based out of Harrisburg, PA. They're local to me and I do just about all of my modification purchases/installs with them. They're all pretty friendly and knowledgable.

That being said...I've never bought a tune from them....But, I would trust them with doing one.

Even if one company has more hp gains over another, it's not going to be enough to feel a difference. We're talking a margin of +/-5 rwhp between companies. If you like that tune, keep it. And yes, Brenspeed and Bama turn off the rear 02's on all their tunes.
