Default After market shifter

I bought my car used. It has some mods but I'm wondering about the shifter. The last car I had with a manual was a 92 T-5. It seems to be a close shift pattern but it is new. Can I tell from the shifter handle? or do I need to look underneth?

some times you can tell by the shifter arm but if they used the stock shift **** you wont so you will have to look under the car

Thanks, I took off a stock **** and put on a roush ****. The shaft looks stock, thats why I'm asking. I can just take it down to roush and have them look, just dont want to waste their time. Thankfully my bro fly's for Jack, I just don't get to good of deals. :{
But it does help

Pull up the shifter boot trim piece and snap a picture of whats under there and post it. It should just pop right up.

A big ol rubber vibration insulator on the shift arm under the shift boot
is a dead givaway for a stock shifter. You can feel thru the shifter boot
without having to removing the shifter boot.
M12x1.25 threads is also an indicator of a stock S197 shifter.
What threads did the aftermarket shifter **** you put on there have?

Roush makes shifter ***** with the SAE threads for aftermarket shifters and
***** with the S197 OEM M12x1.25 threads so thats not an indicator....
