Default What's life like with 4.10 gears/manual?

Who daily drives their Mustang GT (5spd) with 4.10 gears? How are you liking them?

How much of an improvement is this setup? What kind of gas mileage are you seeing in mixed driving?

If you were to do it again, would you go with 3.73s or even leave it stock?

Thanks for any thoughts or insight. I suspect that this has been covered before but I didn't find any threads that were specific enough.

I just drove my car to work. Had to get in front of some cars. First gear was sideways, second gear was sideways and third gear was chirp. I wouldnt trade it for anything. I get about 2 mpg less on the freeway. It was like 2500 rpms at 70-75 or so. Its not bad at all on the freeeway.

If I had to do it again I would do the same thing. I got 24 mpg driving 80-85 driving from sacramento to LA. Car pulls hard in every gear, even fifth.

I believe he's talking about losing traction and the car's rear end swinging out on him.

Which while fun can also be extremely dangerous at the same time.

He means the rear end kicks out when he looses traction. Probably needs an adjustable pan hard bar.

OK, we have established the definition of spinning your tires while moving in a forward direction

NOW, back to the 4.10s and OP..

Avengence, your really running 2500rpms at 70mph? Thats what I really wanted to hear, as I thought people were running 2800-2900rpms at 70...We should make a sticky of 4.10s/3.73s/3.90s on a STOCK mustang at any given MPH, each gear top-speed, and "user testemonials" or whatever....

What about starting out in 2nd? how is that with the 4.10s? If you start in 2nd, than go 4th-5th(or whichever route you go) do you find yourself shifting MORE or LESS with the 4.10s?
