I thought 10in wide wheels were supposed to be a no-no on these cars on the front.

10in wide are supposed to be configured for the rear of the car. Am I wrong?

The caps are now riding on the end of the spindle. The metal shavings

the spindle. Metal shavings are not good for front bearings.

Should i just take off the dust caps? Your right, i do not like the sound of that, but the spindle should only shave off minimal amounts of metal before it stops.

What should i do now?

Though i have not seen this first hand for myself, the spindle nut does not spin relative to the dust cap. There for there is no rubbing. That is what they have told me at American Muscle. They also recommended me denting the dust caps as well.

But all common sense tells me that the spindle and spindle nut goes through tapered bearings with the castle nut on the end squeezing it all together. So the spindle and spindle nut does not rotate as the wheel rotates which would cause rubbing and scraping?

Weird. Direct from american muscle

The front end of a Mustang is set up in a way that will only allow a 9” rim to be used. The brakes, struts, A-arms etc. are located in or around the wheel well, and the wheel and tire are used to hold them in place. Because of their location, it is impossible to use a wider wheel without a significant amount of rubbing on either the inside or outside.
