Question What do you think the dealership will do?

So tonight I get off the expressway and when I get to the light at the end of the ramp, I see this white smoke coming from under my hood. It blows out for a minute or so then I pull away and think WTF?

So then I noticed almost right away, my AC stopped blowing cold and it's blowing the hot air in from outside.

I am taking it back to the dealership first thing in the am but here's the problem.

My 3yr warranty officially ended in the middle of May.

I am still under 36000 miles though, although only by about 100 miles.

So what do you think the dealership will say.
  1. Sorry about your luck, out of warranty, you pay to fix it.
  2. We will split the cost of repair since you are so close to being under warranty
  3. We value you as a customer and will cover the repairs since you are barely out of warranty

in my past experience, the dealer will ask you whether you like it up the *** dry or with lube and then ram you long and hard

good luck !

#2 if you have a decent dealer. If they don't cover at least part of it, try another dealership. And be nice.

unless you get real lucky, I would say they don't do much.

I did have a truck about 2000 miles out of warranty (but under the 3 years). When they told me my alternator was out and it would be $300, I didn't take it to well, and passed my irritation on to the person telling me this. I stated in a somewhat pissed off (ok, firm but calmly, the whole more bees with honey thing) way that the truck didn't need a tune up until 100,000 miles, but Ford couldn't manage to get an alternator to last longer than 2 years or 38k???!

After staring at each other for a few seconds, he said let me go talk to the manager or whoever, came back and said how does $100 sound, I said fine.... afterall, they didn't have to budge at all.

Good luck

I seriously doubt they will do it for free. Try to get them to split it with you, or at least at a reduced cost. Ford reimburses them for warranty work and they are pretty strict.

Be polite and firm. Hopefully they will help. I would try a few dealerships if they say "no". Good luck though, now is not the right time to be asking any American dealership to give an inch, unfortunately.

take it where you bought it . IF you do all your service with them then they should know you and maybe take care of a good customer if they dont know who you are then its a crap shoot.
