I love how all the Ford dealers in my area try to tell you that their repair estimates are "competitive" with the independents. Invariably they want twice what an independent will charge for the exact same repair.

Moral of this story: Continue driving by the dealership to your buddies shop to get your work done for less than half price.

Agreed. I never would have even considered taking it to the dealer under normal circumstances. I only did so hoping I could get it covered under warranty.

atleast they diagnosed it for free? after having terrible experiences with cadillac dealerships for years, the ford dealership has been great to me. they have replaced many parts under warranty, given me stuff for free, including suspension parts when my car has many aftermarket suspension parts. many free hot dogs as well.
