I dont believe in driving a new car like an old man - I drove mine normally from day one, I didnt hit the gas quite as much as I do now but I still drove it fairly quick!
There was a link on this not long ago so use the search button - a story based on how its better for your car if you drive it normally from day 1!!!

There are some technical posts about this already but I'm with you... I want to know how MF '05ers have broken in their 'stangs.
(I won't steal my fellow Alabamian's thunder.. MRBMP - you have an article for us?

I drove mine normally for the first 1K miles. Then I would every once and while get into the throttle a little while going down the road for the next 500 miles. And now I drive it like I stole it once in a while.

Mine's just pushing 600 miles. I got it a little over a week ago
For the most part, I'm driving her like I fully intend to for the life of her. Mostly normal, but with some extra kick in the acceleration. I don't often take her over 60 or 70, but that's because a lot of my driving is residential. I think I've hit 85 once, and that would be my top thus far (smooth as glass). I've done a couple launches, but I think I've only neared the red line once and only chirped 2nd twice. I rev her up at a red light every now and then, but 3k rpms is plenty to get ya noticed I'm holding off any serious speed until she's got 1000 under her belt. For now, just call it "slightly aggresive". The siren's song of the 300 is just too hard to ignore sometimes.
I've broken in my last 2 vehicles like this, and my Isuzu lasted me a dozen years with no problems (had to replace the clutch at 8 yrs, that's it) and is still in my driveway. Obviously, your mileage may vary.

I drove my GT really hard for the first twenty miles, changed the oil and now I drive it like the muscle car it is meant to be. That is to say I drive it normally most of the time and I really get on it for short periods of time every time I take it out.
