Found my front end thunking noise
Found my front end thunking noise yesterday as I was replacing my shocks and struts with new Bilstein’s, they made a big difference in overall performance I am very happy with the outcome the job only took about two hours the rears were very simple and the front not much harder just a little more time to do them (used an electric impact).
Anyway as I was replacing them I had heard that the upper strut mounts would cause this thunking sound if they were broken so I had a set ready if needed, they looked almost new and didn’t replace them. Checked out my sway bar links and they were in very good shape with no play and then I notice my front rear inner fender wall was loose and it’s a two-piece setup (front and rear) and as I moved it up and down I would hear the thunking sound. It mounts with four plastic inserts and they were not holding it at all so I replaced the two on top and the one on the side with some new ones a little bigger from auto zone and for the one on the bottom behind the tire I installed a self-tapping screw from auto zone also and no more thunking. I will update as I put more miles on it.

Any word on the noise? I'm having a similiar issue, clunking noise over low speed bumps. Checked all the hardware, took the sway bar off and still have noise. I've installed a complete Eibach suspension kit and new J/M heavy duty upper strut mounts. Still have noise..
