Default metra double-din kit

I installed an AVIC-F700BT using a Metra 95-5812 double din kit. I'm not real thrilled with the say the metra kit fit.

There is a good sized gap between the metra bezel and the car interior. There is also a good sized gap between the radio and the metra bezel.

The bezel doesn't fit flush on the bottom side - it is recessed a little. The kit came with optional spacer tabs to address this. I used them on the top, which mad the top of the bezel flush with the car, but using these tabs on the bottom, made the bezel stick out from the car.

The tabs on the bottom need to be about half their original width. I may find somebody with a belt sander to help me out with that.

Furthermore, the radio isn't completely flush with the metra bezel. Again, its the bottom that doesnt' fit real well. I tried different combinations of mounting holes, but none of them fit just right.

Is there no other kit for this car? Otherwise, I don't know why the metra 95-5812 part is so widely recommended.

That's strange. I used this kit: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1209958...t.html?tp=3121
I do not know the brand, but it fit beautifully and there is only a tiny gap between the stereo and the mounting kit. I am using the double din piece as well. I did have to modify it slightly to get it to fit, but it was no big deal at all, I just had to cut a couple tabs so it sat far enough in to the dash to allow me to fit the factory trim back in.

ok, heres the deal. there are 2 metra kits. It took me and the guy at bestbuy 20min to figure that out. The one you got looks sunk into the dash adn doesnt fit. the newer one has punch out spacers that push it further out. I'll grab the part # for you off my bag that it came in. Mine was a single din but its the same kit.

The part # is 99-5815

Crutchfield sent me the one you got and I was just as disappointed.
