Default 4.10 gears - won't spin

Let me say up front that I love this upgrade. The car feels noticeably stronger. IMO this did more to wake the car up than the intake/tune did for me.

After breaking the gears in I took it out tonight and did some WOT tests. I was a little surprised that I could not get the tires to break loose. I tried four times. Three times I got the car into first and stabbed it from a crawl (850-1000rpm). Smooth acceleration all the way through first and into 2nd. Did chirp the tires at least once going into 2nd gear and they squeeled a bit at the top of 1st. But nothing serious. I tried punching it from a 3000rpm roll in first with the same results. No tire spin.

What gives? I was lead to believe that I was in for a "smoke show" and would have absolutely no problem breaking the stock tires loose.

Yes stock pirellis 235/55/R17 with about 13,500 miles worth of wear on them.

Car runs fine AFAICT. Last couple times I had it at the track nothing wrong with my trap speeds which would tend to support that.

Friend of mine tells me it's because I have a manual. And that a stall converter, auto car, is more likely to break the tires loose even from a roll.

"auto you can wot then flash it so it hits the pwoerband alot faster therefor spin tires easier"

Thats what he is telling me. I don't understand the explanation though.

Something aint right.....is your clutch slipping?? Before the blower, with just a tune and 4.10's, i used to spin my 20's no sweat, and spin 2nd gear pretty well also.....

Check your clutch......

Just checked it not that long ago. Did the step on it in 5th gear at 35-40mph. Seemed fine. Bogged just like it was supposed to and the rpms did not climb much if at all.

You should spin......so have you dumped the clutch at 4000+ rpm yet? might for some reason need more RPM/TQ to do so?

Oh it will spin if I dump the clutch. No doubt about that. I could probably rev up to 3000 and just slip it out real fast and it would spin. At least from a dig it would.

But it would do that before the 4.10 install.

I just assumed it should blow the tires off from a roll now. At least that's what I expected based on the posts I've seen here.

something doesnt sound right.I would think you"d fry the tires in 1st gear! did you re-calibrate for the 4:10s?
