I put my summer tires on this year in March. Cold mornings, warm afternoons. They were like slick tires on ice in the morning, and when it warmed up in the afternoon they became grippy. I would NOT drive them year 'round. Next year I wont switch to summer tires until April.

Guys I'm talking about driving on dry pavement with no snow or ice anywhere nearby... I have another car for the snow.

Dry pavement will feel like ice. Dont run em. I've had my rear end slide around on low speed turns in town when the temp was too cool.

Yah I don't know what to think. Like a lot of things I'm getting mixed opinions. I posted this on bobistheoilguy.com and also got mixed replies. Some people saying it's a death wish. Others saying it's not that big of a deal you just have to be careful and not drive very fast.

Another thing, as someone said earlier, most summer tires are recommended for use in 40+ degree weather, and driving in cold weather with them may ruin the tires.

You can use any tire in cold weather. You just have to have common sense about your driving. You can't be cornering or tailgating like an idiot.

Nuke, what kind of tires are in your sig? I like the tread pattern. I'm going to have to get some new tires soon..........cheap, if possible.

One of the little issues I'm concerned about is running a staggered tire size, 295mm rear and 255mm front.

What happens if I get a flat? The stock spare isn't gonna work right? So I'm basically totally screwed?

Last winter I bought winter tires for the first time and I was amazed how much better my Mustang was. I had replaced my 18" Fanblades because of curb rash. Having this spare set of rims, I bought some Dunlop winter tires and used them last winter. Not only was my car a lot more driveable in the winter, my expensive Michelin Pilot Sport tires will last longer resting in the garage all winter.
