Can cars lower themselfs - yes.

Does it happen overnight - no.

Springs do lose some of their compression over time and isolaters do get compressed or dug into. This normally takes a couple years though. There may be some "seating" as some would say, but relatively little, maybe 1/8".

This is at least my experience.
