Stopped by another shop after work and they quoted $1100 just to repaint the fender, I meantioned the stripes but he said that he wouldn't remove the stripes unless I had another stripe to go over them because of the paint difference after removal. I was thinking I would be able to buff the area under the stripes real good in order to get it even out, is that not true...am I'm going to have the ghost of the stripes left after removing them?

7hrs to paint a fender?!?!
The Mitchell book gives you about 2.5.
Legion is right, they basically doubled the time of labor on everything
Those guys sure won'y catch an ernia, lol.

As far as blending, I have been lucky with that Silver...
So far, it has been spot on.

I usually don't blend at first on cars 3 to 4 years old.
If the match is off, then I'll go back and blend.
That gives the customer a chance to save a few bucks when the match is good the first time...

where do you live? and how much sunlight does your car get?

I'm from Texas. The 2nd Body Shop told you true if you live in a hot high sunlight area.

I stupidly pulled the 4x4 sticker off an old truck that was about 5 yrs old. No matter what we did, that truck had a very noticeable paint difference. The area under the sticker was many shades brighter than the surrounding paint...

I found out over the years that the chemical from the sticker glue affects the clear no matter what and it's more noticeable on light colors.
So that doesn't help either...

I don't got the money to repaint where the current stripes are so it looks like my plans might change a little. Might just have to replace current stripes with supersnake all the way and forget about the side stripes. This is turning out to be a bigger task than I originally imagined. Or possibly just get the fender fix and deal with the stripes that came on the car, then I could use the left over money for performance...
