MOTHERF'ING RATTLE IN THE REAR/PASSENGER AREA
#31
I had a similar one for about 6 months. I finally had my gf drive and I stayed in the trunk. It was some sensor behind the rug. Picture where the gas cap is on the car, now on the opposite side of the car on the interior there is a sensor that is bolted to the frame. The bolts on my from the factory were stripped thus it rattled. It seats into the frame. You can't miss it. So I bought a new bolt with a locking washer and it's gone now..
I posted this on this site a few years ago. It seemed to solve my rattle in the right rear side of the trunk:
There is a vertical inner panel on the passenger side of the trunk. If you carefully pull the side panel black button out (this is just below a round upraised bump on the side panel) and pull the panel away from the side you will see a bolt (where the raised bump was) and on the inside of the vertical metal where this bolt goes through it holds a bracket with what looks like a small round speaker approx 2 to 3" diameter and has an electrical wire on the bottom. Hit the metal panel and you will see that this bracket and speaker?? vibrates and rattles like crazy. What I did is cut some grey eggshell crate type foam and with small plastic ties attached the foam to this part between it and the metal panel it's bolted to. Once I bolted it back in, I took a larger plastic tie and secured it around the bottom of the part at the electrial connection through a small hole in the metal its bolted to and around the edge of the metal where I secured the tie to prevent this thing from vibrating and rattling when driving over rough roads. This seems to have eliminated the trunk or passenger side trunk noise. Another thing I did is line the bottom of the well under the spare tire with a piece of rubber backed carpet as the spare and jack tend to vibrate and make noises also.

It rarely is properly tightened and sometimes stripped out.
The nature of such a heavy item on the end of a metal strap
bolted with one fastener is silly. Vehicles without the alarm
system (another reason to buy a non-factory alarm equipped
vehicle) dont have the 'speaker' looking horn. I guess the posters
have not ever seen a horn and thinks its a speaker?

i have a rattle too. sounds like its coming from the trunk. only happens when i go over bumpy roads. i'm wondering if it could be that bundle of electrical wires that runs along the inside of the trunk lid....

Thats the interior anti theft horn you are speaking of.
