Default whipple 160mm T/B throttle body GT

I was wondering is it possible to put a whipple 160mm T/B throttle body on a 2007 Mustang GT without a supercharger? Would it improve anything over the stock throttle body?

it would do nothing to help, in fact 160 seems to be a typo. Did you mean 60?

I don't think it's a typo Matt, he probably means the Whipple 160mm monoblade throttle body.

Lou, the whipple monoblade is designed to fit the GT500 so an adapter must be used to fit a Mustang GT setup. It seems that some people who run it on a GT500 or Mustang GT setup have 'driveability' issues such as irregular idle and surging of rpms that are challenging for some tuners to resolve. And it seems that alot of discussions have been had about lack of hp gains until a Mustang GT has been turbo'd or supercharged and is pulling as much airflow as a moderate to extreme GT500 setup does.

Oh wow thanks, that would have been a complete waste of money. Is it even worth changing out the throttle body? To like a BBK Twin 62mm Throttle Body?

I have a Cervini Ram air kit, Flow master mufflers, 4.10 gears, and a race tune from bahama chips. I don't like the throttle response though it has to much of a delay.

Would a new throttle body fix this at all?

Also off of topic but I have an x-pipe sitting in my room, is it worth it to have that installed also?

Thanks guys

You will hear that it is almost useless to get a new TB unless you're pushing serious N/A power. The stock one flows just fine, and i think on one of Kenne Bell's tech articles it said the stock TB was good for like 500hp before it was the bottleneck.

As for the throttle responce, my Bama tune fixed the lag so maybe your tune isnt quite right?

If your throttle response is low, I would try reloading your tune. I do every so often, and the change is immediate.

DO NOT upgrade the TB yet. The stock one is good for a while. Even the stock GT500 TB is good to about 700RWHP.

Alright thanks for your input guys, I just don't want to spend money on something that isn't worth the hassle.

Yes to an x-pipe? Or keep the stock H-pipe?
