Ford Dealer Gear Change Calibrations
I am contemplating a gear change in my '05 GT Automatic and this may be accomplished at the local Ford dealership. I considering a change from the current 3.31 to a 3.73.
My question is to whether or not a Ford dealership has the needed electronic tools (computer hardware/software) to recalibrate my vehicle for this gear change.
Has anyone had this done through Ford or know someone @ a Ford dealership that knows?....

Ford quotes double the time that it would take a shop to do it just in terms of hours not even considering labor rate. Instead of installing it through them get a shop to do it and buy a tuner, you'll pay the same amount and end up with a tune for the car. Finding a shop to do gears is a little hard though but I'm not even sure your dealership is that qualified to do the install. 3 out of 4 of my dealers refused to do it when I was comparing rates.

The parameters on fords computer unless recently updated can not recalibrate at that gear size. only up to a 3.55 ratio. But I agree it'll be cheaper to find a shop do it and get a tuner which you will need anyways.
