I'm going to slap someone @ Ford
So , I was replacing a fog lamp today that burned out (ZOMG I WILL SUE SOME FORDS BECAUSE... wait.. Oh yea, i replaced those lights and I'm not an idiot).
Anyway. I've read about this issue before but I gotta rant about it. Why on earth didn't someone engineer the fog lamp shades to snap in rather than be some dumbass press fit?
I had to take the grille out, then remove the light bezel, and found out that you cant take the front shield off without probably destroying the bezel. So i got it back in place by sticking my finger in the hole. juggling it around until it got close and then lightly pressing it in place. This operation took a good 20 minutes.
Once this was all done and i put the grille back in place, i noticed that the light blocker was off a bout 15 degrees. *sigh* not pulling the grille again.
*SLAP* some engineer needs a good kick in the junk.

Normal from replacing with aftermarket bulbs.
Its glued into place, not just snapped in.
The extra heat of the aftermarket bulbs softened
the OEM adhesive. So go slap yourself for using
hotter than normal fog light bulbs....
And yes, thank god (Ford) the housings are factory sealed.
Otherwise you would be a ranting about the housings
fogging up internally......
Anything else 'Ford' forked up with the S197 design you
want to ******* rant about?
BTW 'Ford' shipped my stang with inferior air in the tires. WTF?

hehe, Thanks for the perspective. I did get a bit cut up removing the grille, but I learned how to do it. It just seems to me, being a network engineer, and owning a lot of vehicles, that someone coulda engineered that little piece a bit better. Hell, I've heard on these forums MANY times about someone just replacing OEM with OEM and knocking that little bastard off.
I really don't have a hell of a lot of rants about the S197 as I've owned 2 of them so far. I totaled one and walked right out of it. It's a well vehicle. I've been a Mustang fan since i was 5 and I've had almost 10 different models.
As for the housing sealing, I expected to need to re-seal it, but I was afraid i'd snap something off and be headed to the dealership so I fixed it with the finger. There is an o-ring sealer around the housing but they used some good sealant. Bravo Ford.
But fail on not making that thing snap in twist 90 degrees and THEN glue it.
keep the snark coming my friend

also. LMAO at the chinese air.
Once in college a friend of mine was talking to a semi ignorant girl as I pulled up for class in the morning. This was in the fall, and he asked me if i had changed the air in my tires yet. I told him I had an appointment with the tireshop this afternoon to get it done before it got cold.
She inquired as to why we were having said discussion, so we told her about the summer air vs winter air and how her tires would go flat if she didn't change it out.
That afternoon she walked into a gas station and asked the clerk about getting the air changed in her tires. She explained what we had told her and he looked at her and said, "are you stupid?".
She didn't talk to us for a while after that. LOL
Ahhh. good times.

Also...
Our factory hood: $1270
The GT500 hood: less than $700 (FRPP)
Outside door handles: the unpainted ones are more expensive than the pre-painted ones
GT/CS bumpers: the kit (with all hardware) is cheaper than the fascia by itself.
Damn Ford suck the big one!!

Oh I have something. The spark plug issue. In all the decades of designing engines this should have never been an issue. After we were finally done with that job of getting two broken shields out of the head, I wanted to strangle everyone at Ford and whoever else that was involved with this. This issue is seriously retarded.
I hope this is a non-issue for Fords future engines (like the Coyote). It should have been a non-issue period.

Don't worry, they'll be using laser beams and fiber optics before too long!
