Well i think ive finally talked my self into ordering some boom tubes but stang mods has a cat back and an axle back version. Whats the difference? The only difference i see int he pics is in the cat back there are two tiny pieces of metal extra (like extra hangers or something)

just go with the axle back. no need for the catback, the stock over axle pipe works perfect and the install is easier with the axle back.

Kinda an old thread but ive been riding around with no mufflers for over a month and the sound is great but looks funny with no mufflers sticking out the bumper and the h pipe rattles every now and then so im thinking about buying boom tubes.

Has anyone heard both boom tube and stock exhaust without any mufflers?
How do they compare in tone?
Im not sure if i should buy boom tubes or go to an exhaust shop and have them bend me some straight pipes. The straight pipes would probably be cheaper

I have Straight pipe with 3.5" tips just welded on. Sounds the same as u have it now, but without the banging from the pipes. Cost me a case of beer and the cost of the tips thats it. So maybe $50 total, if that.

Im thinking thats the cheapest method for sure, but im still curious as to how the boom tubes compare. The straight pipes have a good bit of drone but it sounds pretty deep and i love the sound. I just dont know if the boom tubes will be close just without the drone or a different sound all together.

From what I understand is it sounds close but without being as raspy. I just cant see paying over $200 for a foot of pipe and 2 tips. Just my opinion, no offense. But either way you go, boomtubes, SLPs, or just some tips welded on, it will be very close to eachother. good luck

Boomtubes do not sound like LM. They may look similar, but the boomtubes have a louvered baffle that deepens and smooths the sound out. I like boomtubes 100000X better.

First, "Straight pipes" means no mufflers and no cats. Basicly open headers. Its super crazy loud.

Second, just take your car to an exhaust shop and have them rig up a basic muffler delete. I roll with some guys that have that setup and it sounds pretty mean.

^no mufflers with cats?? I bet that does sound good, the the m80s are straight through and still loud enough for sure there more like resinators in a way. i wouldnt want anything else but a prochamber with my m80s would be perfect!!
