Default Ford to match GM's discount plan

Ford is matching the GM employee discount plan. Read about it here:

Thanks for the link. I'll be surprised if all dealers honor that plan on the Mustang GT's. Some dealer wouldn't honor the X-Plan this year. I'm betting I don't get any type of special deal when I order the 2007 Cobra next summer.

I was wondering if they were going to do that... I thought they might.

However, I doubt they'll allow people to get the mustangs on employee discount, since they're in such high demand. Maybe the new v6s.

I for one, am shocked... not. There's a reason you never see a Rolex watch, or a Browning shotgun or a Mont Blanc pen on sale. If you can sell all you make for full retail, why discount?

Definately not a surprise there. X-Plan is still the best deal you can get if you can find a dealer who will honor it.

Heh, I would have considered canceling my '06 order for a '05 GT with a discount.

And you also noticed GM is not offering the discounts on the Vette and GTO. But why would the GTO sales go up 141 percent? They sold just 1 GTO a month ago and now they sold 141? Everyone I spoke to lately said they would never own a new GTO or Charger because they don't repersent the name of the past.

I was hoping they would join in too, but looks like its going to be the
“Ford Employee Discount for Everyone Except Mustang Buyers” program.

Anyone have info on when ford will start discounting the mustangs?
I think they will do the v-6's first though.

That explains why it was so easy for me to twist the dealers arm for my wife's new 2006 Escape. There are no incentives on the vehicle (only 2005). They took the one from the 05 and applied to her 06. They gave me $500 above blue book on her trade-in in excellent condition AND included Nerf bars and the upgraded security system and etching at no additional charge. I got the truck for the Invoice price + incentive + negotiated items worth about $800. In all about $28.5K worth of stuff for 24K not including the trade-in ($8700 off).
