Default Vibration at 60-65 mph after gear install

After having my 3.73s installed, I have a vibration that I get in my car when on the highway at 60-65 mph. The vibration gets louder with no load on the drivetrain (coasting down, no brakes, no throttle). It occurs in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear, but is most noticeable in 5th due to the exhaust tone being lower. The vibration sounds like a droning noise, sort of like a deep sub woofer just playing a really low tone noise. Any ideas on what to check?

I would check to see that the driveshaft was re-installed nice and tight, check that there is no play in the pinion shaft by pulling back and forth on it. If so, the pinion nut was'nt fully tightened back down. Make sure it is full of gear oil too. Its possible the pinion angle is off. also, i would make sure all the control arms are fully tightened.

Interesting, I have the same type of drone at around 70mph, but I'm still running the stock 3.55 gears. I'm suspecting the driveshaft in my case. Let us know what you find.

Hmmmmm, were all the disconnected driveshaft flanges
reinstalled like they were originally in respect to the way
they were clocked?

A line drawn down the driveshaft/s and flanges before disassembly
of the driveshaft components is mandatory for vibration free operation.
If this was not done, try rotating the disconnected flange 180 degrees
and see if the vibs go away.
Its really a cra* shoot to get it back to the OEM orientation if too many
things were reinstalled without the reference marks to get it back to OEM.

run the car on the hoist and see if the driveshaft wobbles. ive had garter springs fall of on the pinion seal when tapping it in. causes the flange to wobble and cause a vibration. Or the pinion nut is not tight enough.

Yeah I asked the shop about the driveshaft and they said they marked it and reinstalled it in the correct orientation.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Just know that EVERY performance mod I have done to my car has come with some type of *** ache. Now I stick to appearance mods only. You're not alone.

Yeah I have also had problems with pretty much every mod I've done. However, I was able to track the other problems down and fix them. Vibrations are tough because they transmit through everything so its hard to find the source.

Damn, every time I think I am ready to swap to 4.10 gears, I read a story like this. Makes me think my 3.55s are OK.
