Drag radials and road noise

Drag radials and road noise
I've been getting annoyed with some rear noise that could either be the large (305/35 series) drag radials wearing down, gear noise or driveshaft noise (I have a one-piece DS). I tend to think it's road noise from the huge DR's wearing and getting noisier but have nothing to compare it to because I've never run DR's this long on a DD. It's a whirring noise that changes with speed, sounds like it's getting worse. May be gear noise but I've had these gears in two years and they were perfectly quiet before going with the DR's. It could also be u-joint wear on the one-piece DS. I thought I would start with new tires due to the DR's wearing out and I really want to swap some Nitto NT05's back there anyway...
Anyone have experience with drag radials and increasing road noise? I know they're not really designed for this kind of use and I may just swap some NT05's on later this week.

Me and my brother who is a Aston Martin Tech were talking about this the other day. We thought drag radials would decrease some road noise since the compound is so much softer ...it would absorb alot more road noise. Made sense to us but were no experts...just using some common sense theories. We also thought the Nitto 555s I bought would help decrease with my wheel hop, but we will see.

I would think that Nitto 555s would increase wheel hop...because it'll be grabbing the pavement more. Everything I've heard is that more hp + stickier tires = more hop. What I've heard eliminates it is an upper 3rd link and lower control arms. Costs around $300 from steeda. Way cheaper than 555s!
