It's a bich with the grille still on the car.
It uses those push on washer/clips that are not user friendly to remove at all.
Best to get new ones and have the grill off...

Speed clips are OEM mounting for the pony.
Break them to remove. NeedleNose pliers.
One time use.
Get new clips and instal black pony.
Get at em from UNDER the vehicle.
Watch out for the condensor cooling fins.
They cut you and can be damaged quite easily.
Or remove the upper radiator cover and try from ABOVE.
Removing the grill can be a biatch, broken
clips and scratched up bumper cover nightmare
for some. Its as easy as pie for others with skill.

Do I need clips? There's not really a close dealer. Could I just use some strategically placed 3M tape?

3M tape is fine and dandy.
Lots of surface area for it to attach to.
It will be spaced out by the thickness of the tape...

I'm fine with that. There is quite a large lip around the thing so I think I will just pry her out and 3M tape the new one in. Lazy I know :P
