Remove the positive battery cable from the battery for 30 seconds, let everything reset and then put back on, try that. If your car is tuned be careful, I don't know what you have done to you car tune wise. shouldn't hurt.

If you remove one battery cable, it should be the negative, not the positive. If you are removing both, then you remove the negative first and reconnect it last. This is a safety issue.

If it's not the dimmer, then you probably have a bad circuit or bulbs inside the stereo itself. As someone said, if it were a fuse, then the radio wouldn't work at all. I had this exact problem on my 95 Explorer. Wasn't worth the trouble of fixing it.

The radio power fuse and the radio illumination fuse are
two very seperate items so that old school logic dont
wash with the new 05-09 S197s sophisticated electrical system..
The S197 Stang is not anything like the 95 Explorers so
that also goes out the window.

Next guess....

So their different fuses? Anyone have a pic of where the illumination fuse is?

So where is the radio illumination fuse? According to the manual, it isn't in the power distro box or the passenger compartment fuse panel.
