Besides being a truly stupid mod
Who pissed in your cereal ? Just because you don't like it it's not stupid.
my darkness is perfectly legal in my state, and no one EVER rear ended me. be it because they can see the light perfectly fine or I don't slam on my brakes for no apparent reason.
So let's not resort to " your mod is stupid cuz I don't like it "

and OP here's the Utah law, since your location says utah

Never had an issue though with that. Like I said. check the state law. You can find most of those on the DMV website .or a link to them
Define 'visable'.
Is that not a subjective term?

lol, I don't think there will be room in the gray area for someone to say, well I am slightly blind and can't see at more than 100 feet. I'm sure if I dug some laws and statutes I would find something about people with vision problems would have to have their vision corrected by either contacts, glasses or what-not to or close to 20/20

either way, I was just trying to state a point as far as that goes, that not everyone ( and prolly more than 40% of the members here have tinted tails ) thinks it's a dumb mod, and it's not illegal everywhere. I know there's a bunch of states that have that law with CA leading as the dumbest DMV laws in the world. I would call that screw the pleasure of modding out of people that love their cars .. lol

ok enough of that. back to waxing my car..

I don't think there is a way around. It says the tail lamps have to display or reflect a red color.

It doesn't say when lit it has to reflect a red color or when unlit it has to reflect a red color.

The absence of which I belive the law is stating that it always has to be red.

I see factory tail lights every day on cars not called Mustangs, which are about as dark as light and medium shades of Mutang tail light tint.

Don't be hatin' just because Ford went with some electric-bright shade of red on our tail lights.

I say find one of these cars with tinted lights from the factory and get a pic next to them both day and night... lit and unlit day and night. Take that to court and see what they say...

yeah, i checked mine after i did them to make sure it didnt hinder the visibility of the tail/head lights at day or night. When not engaged, they are black, but when you hit the brakes or turn on the head lights, the light is just as visible as before the tint. I got those vinyl feelin' light tints from moss mustang.

i checked this cause i hate driving behind those idiots that black out their lights so bad that you absolutely can not see them engaged in day or night. that is what causes accidents.
