how to tell build date from VIN
my dealer said mine sat on the lot for 3 wks before i bought it...so i "could" assume that it was probably built 3 wks prior to that right? well is there a way to tell based on the vin?

Click on this link, http://www.blueovalforums.com/index.php?showtopic=14595 and give Kzinti your VIN and tell him you would like information about your car. You have to register first but it is free to join.
PS: Don't get him PO'ed because he has been a great help to many people. It may take a few hours to get your response so be patient. |
RE: how to tell build date from VIN
you can get within a month by looking at the tag on the door jam. it gives the month and year of build.

RE: how to tell build date from VIN
LOL the wait i incurred on mine was worse than waiting to get laid for the 1st time. call 800-962-3746 and be ready w/ your dealer code, body type, and order #. if you have a vin # already the gods must certainly approve of you

RE: how to tell build date from VIN
ORIGINAL: red3784 body type being GT i'm guessing? and do i need the priority number? Just need: dealer number... drop the first letter if you have one... just the number body type code model year order number Good luck, Dave edit: red3784 - I just saw on another thread that your priority number is 99. I'm almost positive that is a priority number a dealer assigns an order that they don't ever want built... until they change it. It's kind of a hold status. So I dont think you'll be able to track your order until they change your priority number. You'll want to find out how many stangs they get a month and how many people are in front of you. |
RE: how to tell build date from VIN
I ordered mine saturday and it has a priority 10 !!
This is from http://www.ford-trucks.com/archives/...gestV1n57.html "The Priority code on an order reflects in what order a dealer wants things built. They range from 10 to 99. A vehicle ordered as a priority 99 can't be built by Ford. Anything else is buildable. Ford allocates a number of vehicles to a dealer (Weekly for small dealers, Monthly for Large dealers). Note this means you get a vehicle quicker from a small dealer than a large one. If you have a allocation they build the lowest priority numbered unit possible. If priority 10 had a option that they were out of they would skip to 11. If you have multiple orders (they go by vehicle line) on the same priority, they build retail orders before stock, and pick the oldest order first. I order starting at 15 (so I've got room incase I need something urgent) on Retail orders and Stock orders at 30. If another dealer orders all his at 10 it does not give them any advantage over a 15 on my order bank. Also you might ocassionaly get a priority 01-09 which is set by Ford not the dealer. This means for some reason this vehicle will get built really soon (I had one retail order that didn't get scheduled for 8 moths due to the shortage of Off Roads and it got bumped up. Thats the only time I've seen it.) So basically Priority codes affect scheduling within the dealership, not scheduling between dealerships." |
