Motorcraft makes both:

XO5W20QSP is a synthetic blend
XO5W20QFS is full synthetic
Like others have said, not much difference, synthetic will last longer before breaking down. But they all get contaminated at the same rate.

Just go to walmart (they have those everywhere right?) and get a 5qt mobil 1 bottle and a single quart. Should be like 32 dollars and get the motorcraft filter (3 dollars) and you are golden. Change every 5k miles or so depending on your driving habit.

This topic reminded me of when I went to the Ford dealer where I bought my car. I was getting an oil change and the service mgr. says "blend or fully synthetic? Keep in mind if you go to fully synthetic, you can never go back to the blend!" LOL This was the same guy that insisted there was no cabin air filter in the Mustang. He no longer works there...

I have heard people say if you go to Mobil 1 you have to stick with it. Im no polymer oil chemist, but Jeez, to me its oil,at least its clean, and being changed on a regular basis, and the same weight, I really can't see what the harm would be

Castrol Edge claims their oil provides 8 times better protection than Mobil 1.

i have used both over the years and i swear i could tell the diffrence. The synthetic is supposed to be free of impurities from the start.AFTER USING the synthetic for over 10 years the dealership put in some regular oil (without asking) and it was a considerable diffrence. The minute that oil got in her it was a diffrent car. For some reason it felt heavy and was not as smooth. This visit was only for an oil change so i know it was nothing else, and there is a reason they get more money for that oil or why would people spend the extra.ill be synthetic for life thank you

I didn't feel a difference but I think you are not suppose to just makes the engine components last longer. They are lubricated better.

Sounds like a topic for Myth Busters.
