Default Is this a good deal on a 2006 GT Premium Certified?

22k miles, auto, grey with stripes and beige interior. Asking 20k, I emailed my offer, they replied with 19k... when I tried to negotiate some more, they sent me this, which probably means they don't feel like negotiating any further.

This car was for sale about a month or so ago, but then was gone... I thought they sold it. Now they have it again. I wonder why this could be.

Retail on the vehicle is $23,880
Whole Sale is $20,200
Your sale price is $18,999 plus Tax and License

EDIT: I added two more listings for available GTs (under 20k) in my area. Please give your feedback on them:

Red - http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/1333162637.html

Yeah that's a pretty good deal, as long as the interior/engine bay looks clean.

Most of the used S197 Mustangs I found on cars.com were in that price range.

I paid that for my car last year with 32k miles but my car was incredibly clean.

Oh and the person that tried buying it before might of had bad credit and couldn't get a loan?

You got any pictures or a link to the listing?

I paid 18k for my 2006 with 5k miles on it about a year ago. Don't think its a bad price but without seeing it can't be sure

I actually test drove it when they just got it a few months ago. But it wasn't detailed yet... It was a short test drive, and the car seemed fine, but what can you tell in just 5 minutes. I'm suspicious, if the car by any chance had a defects of some kind that the last owner fed up with and had to return it after a few weeks. Or maybe the dealer was fixing the car. It was out for like a month. Bad credit application wouldn't explain such long absence, I think.

ask for the car fax to see if there has been any major damage.

look good and if its certified any problems should be covered (right?). The only thing I can think of to check on is to make sure the strut mounts are ok (turn the wheel to see if there is any thunking noise), they updated the mounts on the newer models.

edit:
17 records on carfax, can't read them but that seems like a lot.

I just bought an 05 V6 Vert premium with 25k on it for $15k. Was there when i test drove it then a few days later it was gone for a few days. I went back and tested a GT (2005 base with 3xxxx miles for $18k) then they got the other back. sale didn't go through... was already detailed and i took it home that day

no

hell no

run away screaming.

last month I paid $27,500 for a brand new 2009 Bullitt loaded with everything except Nav.

$19/20k for a 4 model year old car is absurd. I woud be hard pressed to pay that for a 08 model.

14 records on a Carfax is alot. Granted it probably has 3-4 records for registrations...but why the other 10 or so? Make the Dealer show you the Carfax.

2ndly...that is a USED CAR LOT. fairly certain you have to buy the car from a Ford Dealership for the Certified Warranty. I'd ask to see the paperwork. I'll bet it requires at least a $100 fee...if you can even transfer that Warranty.

I suggest you look elsewhere. Mustangs are a dime a dozen in the Seattle area. I bought my 2003 at Auburn Nissan back in 2007. Just go up down Federal Way. You'll find one at a better price.

They actually sell new cars... but yeah, search on Ford website didn't list them as a dealer. I'll keep looking...
