s197 Ecoboost

Anybody think this would be a good combo?

aftermarket tuning = lots of potential

makes the base 4.6 seem insignifigant

I was told at the dealership that this is likely coming soon. Count me in.

I would like to see the ecoboost in the base Mustang and the 5.0 in the GT.

not a fan of that motor

been following it in the F-150 community since Ford first leaked the concept. Seems great for most common purposes...but I'm just scared of how the Turbo's will hold up to the rigors of hard driving.

but Ford has to counter that V-6 in the Camaro...so yeah, it might be okay for the base Mustang

They will be doing the ecoboost in the mustang and releasing a 5.0 for the GT. I want to see what they decide to do with the cobra.

There's always the 725 hp Shelby Super Snake setup. I probably only costs a few grand in parts. The elephant in the room Ford has is fuel economy, for every 1 MPG that the car looses it adds $500-$700 to the cost of the car for no good reason.

I don't see the business logic of putting the ecoboost in a Mustang. Fords that currently have the ecoboost are all $35k+. I'm willing to bet the V6 with all turbo hardware weighs as much or more than a V8 and the gas mileage probably isn't much better and has to run 91+ octane. I'd expect the price of base Mustangs to go up quite a bit with a turbo setup and the need to run 91 octane would also make it a poor choice for a base car.

Do I want a turbo V6? Oh hell yeah. Seems like a poor business decision though.

i would rather see a TT GT or TT gt500, the v6 keep it cheap bc thats usually why people buy it bc its more affordable.

Why does it have to be an EcoBoost V-6 in the base model? Why can't it be an EcoBoost I-4? That way, the base Mustang could have the EB I-4 with ~300hp and the GT can have the 5.0 V-8 with 400hp.
