Default Shaker 500 to aftermarket

After reading through about 30 threads on various sites, I still couldn't figure this out. I have this harness wired up to an Alpine http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207055...977&tab=review

There are only 2 plugs on this harness while there are three plugs on the OEM harness in the vehicle. What is the third plug for?

The plug I'm referring to is the middle one in this picture

Looking at PDF diagrams I can see that the plug I am referring to is represented here by the column J3

I have yet to see a harness that utilizes all three plugs. Any ideas? Thanks

It looks like the plug is for an aux input but my Shaker 500 doesn't have any aux inputs, so why would I have this connection both on the head unit and on the factory harness? For future use?

Yeah for future use. It's the same thing as us having an AUX button or a Telephone on the deck even though it can't be used for either of those things. Just stop worrying about it. If sound comes out then you are good to go.
