Default Transmission/Middle Console getting hot?

Hello all,
Before I go on this is what I have:
2007 Mustang GT
Manual Tranmission
89,532 Miles
Last maintenance 4,000 miles ago

Lately my stick and center "console" (where the cupholders and E-brake are) is getting hot, it's not blazing hot but hot like when you just get clothes out of a dryer. I do live in Southern California and my commute is 120 miles a day in LA traffic but it has never done this before. I also notice under my seat if I touch any metal hardware it is also very hot along with the floor? Is this a common problem or should I be concerned? Thanks for any help you can supply me with.
-Kyle

PS: This issue usually happens about 20 minutes into a drive.

I have an automatic and occasionally when I drive I notice the same thing. Those are hot parts under the car so I would say it's perfectly normal. It's not like it's getting hot to the point of damaging anything.

I am hoping it is just the recent heatwave or for all I know I never noticed it and its always been like this. I am concerned also because I am not the most car savvy person ever and I find it hard to shift into gears at times. I just assume its an American car and thats why its tough to shift (Sometimes I need to go to Gear 3 and then 1 to put it in gear because im afraid I can like snap the gear stick or something).. But another side of me is paranoid that my car is broken.

I live in Northern Ca. it gets hot here over 100 for several days during the summer. The shift area, e-brake, and console are always hot during the summer, I say it is normal. There is very little insulation if any between the trans and the floor pan.

I have an 07 GT and I notice the same thing but I believe it's perfectly normal. If it bothers you you could pull up the carpet/console and put Dynamat/heatshield stuff down to lessen the heat. If you look under there now you'll notice there is really nothing there to prevent the heat from soaking into the cabin.

I notice the same thing. I thought they didn't put enough Dynomat around the shifter when I had it changed? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

Yeah when I did my sound deadening I pulled EVERYTHING out of the car and I was amazed that like 98% of the car has no type of insulation or dampener! There's about 1/2 of 2ply sheet metal between you and the trans so any heat at all will soak through. I put down dynamat and some heat/sound foam stuff and the car stays sooo much cooler in the 115• Texas heat! Pluss it's quieter. Doooo it, dooo it

I changed the tranny fluid to RP syncromax and noticed a difference in temps. No kidding. I don't buy into most manufacturers claims about wonderfluids but my shifter shaft was getting pretty warm after a long drive and I decided it couldn't hurt. It helped.
