Mine are painted and for about 2000 bucks with 3 coats of clear and wet sanded and buffed to a mirror shine!

Just out of paint and after wetsanding......

I'm leaving mine vinyl and here's why:
1. Mine look incredibly flush with the finish where many people confuse them with paint anyway.
2. It allows me to change my car each year if my tastes change.
3. Cheaper

Painting is the only way to go IMO. I had 8" vinyl stripes and switched out to 10" painted and clear coated on top.

While I liked the vinyl (and saved money too initially), I was restricted in the width of it. I have a Roush rear spoiler on mine and if I had gone with my preference on striping it would have created a major problem (and looked like crap) since the stripes would have gotten into some of the curves on the spoiler (which vinyl cant handle). Painting allowed me to go back to the 10" width I initially wanted, but also removed any problem those sized stripes created and let them continue down into the license plate hole to the bottom of the bumper and IMO looks 1000X better.

I got the two stripes with the tiny pinstripe and the rocker panel stripes painted and cleared for $600. I think he gave me a break because he did all of the other painting and installation of the cervini parts on the car. It turned out really nice.
