Default When can we expect 05-09 s197s to drop?

With the new 5.0 coming out in 2011.. I'm sure alot of people are going to be getting rid of their old s197s and there will be an overload of them. My question is.. When are they going to drop in price, if they do drop? Thinking about getting one but im not going to buy one then have it drop a few thousand dollars within a few months of owning it

Hmm...good time to buy, I'd say. Wait it out, find one barely used (some people run leases on them while others like to swap cars like they do underwear) and demand a good deal. I would guess you'd see $5k or more off the sticker price, especially when they do year-end clearance. That's what I've seen numerous times. They have to move the old off the lot to make room for the new year model!

I dunno there is some good deals out there if you look and are patient, however there are still plenty of guys that think their car is worth a ton of $$$$. one of the problems with buying an 08 or 09 model used is most of the time your average person pays too much for the car when new, then they need too much to bail on it when it fairly new. I see used 09's and 08's for sale for more than a new car would cost. I think the 05-09 models would go down more however to me it looks like the '10 model isn't selling very well at all, I rarely see one on the road and the dealers where I live don't have many on the lot, when you start seeing the new body style more often I think the prices will go down

Yeah.. I see a earlier s197 on craigslist right now for $25k. Im tempted to email him and ask him where he lives so i can go drop kick him.

I'm waiting until they hit the $10k mark.. I see a few of them getting close.

also alot of people think that MODS will sell a car.. when in reality they dont they turn buyers away. cause they know the car has been beat on or run hard ! Same with dealers. I see modded GTs on the lot for more than a BRAND NEW 2010 model ... and there excuse.. it has after market exhaust and shortshifter ! I laugh my *** off !

I think the S197 might be around for a while because the rear end of the 2010 is so horrific. It actually has prevented me from even considering one.

Agree 100%. I would never buy one thats beeen modded to death. I want a stockish one so i can build it up myself. All the stock ones i see that are selling for 20K is funny.

I don't take that aproach when it comes to buying a used mustang. Matter of fact is I'm looking for a Fox 5.0 and mods are welcomed as I don't really care if someone beat the hell out of it. I'm going to do the same. lol

As far as S197s go, I think the price will hold up right untill around 2011-2012. then they will drop off to exactly what you can find a 99-04 these days.

I'm actually going to keep mine ( unless I come by a GT500 for around low 30k .) and will buy a new one in 2012.

One thing is for certain, the supply of 05-09's will never grow because Ford isn't making them anymore.

Blade10x,

Supply and demand always dictates prices. If the economy picks up you may not see the price drop you are looking for. IMO finding a GT for 10k is going to be hard. Knowing the right time to buy will be harder.

Im thinking next yr when the 11 comes out with the new Coyote engine. Everyone is going to want to get their hands on one and thats going to make the S197 cars drop like a rock.
