How to remove over spray on windshield?
My mustang has some clear coat over spray on the windshield left over from the body shop and I was wondering what the best way is to remove the residue. Should I use acetone, paint thinner, razor blade, clay bar?
What works without damaging the glass surface?

Depends on how much paint is on there. If it's a thin layer, I would just hit it with paint thinner and rub it off. If it's thicker, than I would use a window scraper (razor blade at an angle) AFTER soaking the glass in window cleaner. This should prevent any heavy scratches and make it easier.

Take it back and hold them accountable for their crap job.
If you are affraid of them then just use a blade and take it off. I have never heard of a windshield being scratched from a blade unless someone was doing some crazy suff to it...

Claybar is good but steelwhool (#4 or finer) is much quicker, just make sure you blow off the residue afterwards.
If it's really thick, use a razor blade first...
But I agree with the others, take it back to the shop and make them clean their mess.

+1 ^^^ On the steel wool (0000 or finer).
It's also great for just cleaning up a grimy/water spotted windshield, just make sure to use a lot of window cleaner to help lubricate it. I'll go over mine with steel wool about once a month, 75 miles a day on the freeway leads to a very dirty windshield.

Steel wool, I used to work at a body shop and thats all we used. I dont trust razorblades unless they are brand new. Any bends or nicks in the metal can cause scratches. 0000 steel wool will def not scratch and it will take it all off. Use it with windex. While you are out there do it on the outside of all your windows, it will make them SHINE.
Or if you have some lacquer thinner, that will work too. That will get overspray off of paint too, just dont get it on the plastic or dump it on the paint. The way to check for overspray on the paint is tip your head upside down and look from the bottom of the car up. It will look like haze on the paint.
